Alaska Memorial Tournament Results
Alaska's "Memorial" tournament featured a sequel to the best match of the Fall Kick-Off tournament. Charlie Lindemuth won this round, after losing an 11-20 tie breaker against Brandon Cuaresma in October. This time Charlie prevailed in two tough games to claim the Open title. Brandon is looking toward a rubber match in the state singles championships in the spring. The Memorial also brought back Mixed Doubles competition with six closely matched teams. Vicki Jordan and Brandon Cuaresma defeated Lynn Sorenson and Randy Stevens in the featured match on Court 1 Friday night to take first place. Julie Jordan and Albert Circosta took third place. It was great to have the women back in the competition and comaraderie of a tournament. In Masters play Chuck Gause survived a very tough field, defeating Dave Knapp in the finals. Chris Kilday beat Scott Dattan for the Golden Masters title. Dave Berlin outlasted Todd Laporte in the Men's A's. Tom Poe won his very last "B" trophy, over Gordon Schadt. And Arturo Herrera, Jr. bested Mary Ann Poe in the C/Junior division.
