2005 Washington State Championships

Tumwater, Washington The Washington State doubles and singles handball championships were held at the Tumwater Valley Athletic Club, March 18 - 20. Sean Lenning dominated the Open Singles and teamed with his father, Larry to win the Open doubles. Both finals matches were hotly contested as Jay Balkenbush from Spokane came to play, taking the first game in the Open singles final before Sean shifted gears, placing many serves out of reach to win the next two. In the Open doubles final, Glenn Carden and Jim Wainwright from Bremerton came roaring back to take the second game from Sean and Larry, only to lose a tough tie breaker. The hospitality was fantastic! There was plenty of food available throughout the weekend in the Tennis Lounge and the Taco Bar Saturday evening at the El Serape Restuarant was lots of fun.
